Notes

--Gene Cone singled in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 23 games.

--Announced attendance Sunday was 2,941.

--South Carolina had base runners in seven straight innings to start the game. The only two innings they didn’t have runners on base were the eighth and ninth. They left nine runners on and seven on in scoring position.

--Georgia had a season-high four home runs against the Gamecocks, all solo shots. It also means Georgia’s last 20 home runs have all been solo homers.

--Alex Destino and Marcus Mooney were both back in the lineup after Destino left Saturday’s game with a strained hamstring and Mooney didn’t play with a left hip pointer. Holbrook said Destino wasn’t fully healthy and he hopes to have him back by Wednesday or the weekend at the latest.

--Adam Hill pitched 5+ innings today and got the no decision. After wining five of his first six starts, Hill has picked up no decisions in his last three.

--John Jones rebounded from a poor first two games to go 1-for-4 with an RBI.

--Georgia was 4-for-4 on stolen bases this weekend. South Carolina was 2-for-3.

--This was only South Carolina’s third loss this season when allowing five runs or less in a game. They’re 24-3 when doing so.

--South Carolina’s dropped their series to Georgia five out of the last 10 years, including three straight. They are 7-10 in Athens since 2006.

Quotes

Josh Reagan on what went wrong: “I left balls over the plate and they hit ‘em.”

Josh Reagan on the team’s mindset: “We’re fine. We’re here. We’ve beat better teams than them. We’re good. They took that one from us but we’ll be fine.”
