Quotes

Holbrook on the offseason slump: “You don’t come out of it until you bang a few around. And right now we’re not banging a few around.”

Holbrook on playing Jones: “I don’t want to rest his mind when we only get thirty league games. And I don’t want my best players on the bench…Right now he’s not feeling good about himself, but it only takes one swing.”

Webb on his short outing: “Did things fall the way I wanted them to? No. But hats off to them, they cam out ready to hit after Clarke’s great performance last night.”

Webb on the team’s three-run ninth: “We’re down 13 to 1 at that point, there’s nothing more you can ask for than a team that comes out and competes. Things just didn’t go the way we wanted them to tonight.”

Arendas on morale: “Morale’s good; obviously we want to play better. We have to execute at a high level because every team we play is good. It’s difficult to win on the road in this league but we do have a chance to win the series tomorrow, so that’s what our focus is.”

Arendas on the defense: “There were a couple balls that just got through, but you got to give them credit. They were putting good swings on it. I think as a defense we could have made some plays, but we didn’t do enough offensively to answer that eight-run inning.”
