Current No. 35: Shannon James
James is a 5-foot-7 defensive back from South Florence (S.C.) High School. He transferred from Florence Darlington Tech in 2014 and has worked with the Gamecock scout team ever since. He was named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll last season.
The fifth-year senior walked on to the team before spring practice in 2014 and is expected to add depth to this year's secondary.
Former No. 35: Andre Goodman
Goodman (1998-2001) was a part of the Gamecock secondary that beat Ohio State in back-to-back Outback Bowls. Goodman and his counterpart, cornerback Sheldon Brown, would go on to play in the NFL and both would lead the team in interceptions in 2001 with three apiece. He was the corner covering Rod Gardner during the infamous push off.
The former All-SEC corner was drafted in the third round to Detroit would go on to play in the NFL for the Lions, Dolphins and Broncos during a nine-year career. He was named to the 2015 SEC Legends Class.
Now, Goodman works with the South Carolina football program as the Director of Football Development and has been there for five years.
