NEWBERRY, S.C. - Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna class of 2019 quarterback Alex Meredith completed 232 of 336 passes for 3,369 yards and 37 touchdowns last season and the recruiting interest has started to roll in for the 6-foot, 180-pounder.

"I've been getting a lot of invites to camps and stuff like that, mostly from local schools around here, Clemson, Carolina," Meredith said Sunday at the Elite Position Training Showcase in Newberry. "I've also been getting some from schools like Michigan State, so it's starting to come along, but not fully yet."

Meredith was on South Carolina's campus recently for the Garnet and Black spring game.

"It's a great atmosphere," Meredith said. "Last year was kind of a down year for them, but they're definitely coming up. They've got a great coaching staff now. The program just looks good."

Meredith is being recruited to Carolina by special teams and linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler, who was by his school this spring.

"I just like how friendly he is," Meredith said. "He just loves football, you can tell that, he loves to talk about it. He's just kind to me, very nice to me and that's big to me."

Meredith has also visited Clemson.

"They had a great year this year," he said. "The atmosphere at Clemson is unbelievable, all the fans. DeShaun Watson is a role model to me. Everything about Clemson is great."

Meredith also rushed for 487 yards and four touchdowns last season.
