Woods planning spring game visit

Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove three-star quarterback Jelani Woods recently visited South Carolina for a spring practice and plans to be be back on campus this Saturday.

"It's going really good," Woods said of the recruiting process. "I'm probably going to visit South Carolina this week for the spring game then after that go to Oklahoma State's spring game."

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Woods counts South Carolina among his top three, along with Oklahoma State and Michigan despite Carolina recently landing four-star quarterback Jake Bentley.

"No sir (it doesn't affect my recruitment), because coach told me before he committed that he wanted two quarterbacks for this class," Woods said. "So that should help me come in with good competition and put us on a big stage so we can play."

Woods, ranked the No. 22 dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, says there's a lot he likes about the Carolina program.

"South Carolina is really good," Woods said. "I really love the atmosphere down there. The fan base is great. It's really just the players and coaches are awesome there too, you can tell that their program is changing, so that's something that I like about the program."

Woods is being recruited by co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper.

"Coach Roper is actually great," Woods said. "Since he's been an NFL coach, I think he can come in and make the offense great."

He's also looking forward to his Oklahoma State trip.

"They said it's a big family type team and that's how we are at my high school, so I want to see if that's really true," Woods said. "And to see the facilities, because they said they have some of the best facilities, so I'll go see that and just the coaches and players and how they react."

Woods is also looking at a possible visit to Michigan in early June.

He says a decision could come soon: "Probably after I visit either Oklahoma State or Michigan. "
