"I'd say just the coaches, Coach Roper, Coach Muschamp, feeling comfortable with them," Urich said was the difference-maker in his decision. "They're just an awesome staff that I'm comfortable with."

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder chose the Gamecocks over offers from Duke, Southern Miss, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Harvard, Yale and North Dakota State. He's been receiving heavy interest as of late from Tennessee, Boston College and N.C. State.

"Duke is a really good school," Urich said. "It came down to Duke, Furman, South Carolina, Southern Miss and Coastal Carolina. All of those schools, I couldn't go wrong with any of them. I just I just felt in the end that I was the best fit at Carolina."

Urich was recruited to the Gamecocks by co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper.

"Coach Roper and Coach (Brian) Turk, I just love them a lot," Urich said. "They're great guys and I'm excited."

Urich is ranked the No. 20 overall prospect in South Carolina by Rivals.com.

Urich is the No. 9 commitment, and lone quarterback, in the Gamecocks' 2017 class.

"Jake (Bentley) and Brandon (McIlwain) and all those guys, they're great guys," Urich said of the Gamecocks current quarterbacks. "I'm looking for to it, because everyone will make each other better. I'm looking forward to the competition."
