Top in-state DB talks Gamecocks


SANTEE, S.C. - -

In-state defender Davondre "Tank" Robinson has film that has already helped earn him offers from Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and numerous others.

His presence at Lake Marion High has drawn coaches from several of those programs sto stop and check in on Robinson during the evaluation period.

"I may forget somebody but USC, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and NC State," Robinson listed to GamecockCentral.com.

South Carolina sent the head coach and a pair of assistants by recently, and Robinson has taken note of the reputation of the staff that Will Muschamp has built in Columbia.

"Coach Muschamp came and two other guys came with him. They plan to start something new, build something new there. They have a good defensive staff now."

Any early lean for Robinson has been difficult to pin down, and he likewise said that he's wide open to all suitors.

"Everybody is just even. I'm just taking it all in still," he said.

Rivals.com ranks Robinson as a safety prospect, and the nation's sixth-best at that. He noted that programs are recruiting him as a safety or cornerback. Several junior day visits are on the docket in the coming weeks.

"I think I might go to Clemson's junior day this Saturday. I have North Carolina's coming up in February, Tennessee in March, Virginia Tech. South Carolina is February 13, I'm going up there."

The Rivals100 defensive back will look for factors relating to football and beyond when mulling his options. What are they?

"If they can help prepare me for the next level, how they treat me if I get hurt, if they can help me find a job when football is over."
