Thursday quick-hitters: Elliott talks OL (video added)

Here are post-practice notes from South Carolina's practice on Thursday evening:

** - Hayden Hurst finished last season at 238 and is now 252 pounds. He said he loved the offseason and how challenging it was. Kurt Roper is utilizing the tight ends in multiple ways and Hurst has liked what he is doing with the scheme.

- Blake Camper said some players are being tried at multiple spots up front. He has changed his body composition and matured from last season, something that Shawn Elliott also pointed out after practice. Camper singled out Zandi and Helms as being leaders up front for the offensive line.

- Shawn Elliott spoke on several topics. He said it was substantial to have a returning, experienced guy at center in Knott because it's such an important position.

- Cory Helms can play center or either guard spot according to Elliott. DJ Park has a chance to win a starting job and has been running with the first group for a few days. He was bumped down because of effort one day but was back with them today.

- Elliott said the offseason was tough as nails and helped the group handle adversity and know how to respond to tough situations. It really pushed them, and so has spring practice.

- There was some terminology changeover where possible with the OL calls up front within Roper's offense so that it was an easier transition on players but there are also some differences now.

- The tempo has been challenging according to Camper and Hurst, but is also good because it will help them in two minute situations specifically.
