FOOTBALL

***Ridge View high school out of Columbia will be hosting the state's first satellite camp this summer, and South Carolina is among the confirmed college coaching staffs that will be in attendance.

*** After dropping lower than expected in the NFL Draft, Pharoh Cooper and Jerell Adams are being viewed as steals for their respective teams.

*** Comments from former Gamecock great Marcus Lattimore at the Knight Commission regarding player safety were taken out of context or misinterpreted by some. Speaking with GamecockCentral.com, Lattimore was able to clear the air.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING

BASEBALL

*** USC dropped a road SEC series to Kentucky last weekend. The Gamecocks started well, erasing an early deficit to take game one by the score of 10-2. Check out Collyn Taylor's "15 Things" feature from that contest right here. Game two was a different story from USC, as the Gamecocks were held scoreless behind a complete game from Kentucky's starter. Stats and sounds from game two can be found here. An extra-inning, walk-off loss went against the Gamecocks in the series' rubber match. The players discussed the game - and the series- afterwards.

*** Taylor Widener was lights out pitching for the Gamecocks in a 3-1 midweek win over Presbyterian College.

*** The once hot-hitting John Jones is in a slump, but Chad Holbrook remains in his corner.

BASKETBALL

*** Frank Martin went into detail on several topics here, including his new assistant coaching hire, recruiting, the 2016/17 roster, scheduling, and much more.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

*** Signee Tyasha Harris was invited to the USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team Trials later this month in Colorado. That's the third straight season that a current or future Gamecock has been invited to a USA Basketball trial. Harris also previously took part in the 2013 U16 Trials.

MEN'S TENNIS

*** Redshirt sophomore Gabriel Friedrich was named as the ITA Carolina Region Player to Watch on Monday. That comes on the heels of a second team All-SEC selection for Friedrich previously. Currently ranked 51st in the nation, he has a 20-17 record on the season and will compete in the NCAA Singles Championships later this month.

WOMEN'S GOLF

***USC shared the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional title with no. 5 Florida; it's the second straight finish at the top of the leader board for the program (and the fourth in the last seven years). Junior Katelyn Dambaugh matched the program's top 54-hole individual score (207, -9), with a tournament best 16 birdies.

Junior Katelyn Dambaugh powered the Gamecocks to victory in historic fashion, matching the program’s top 54-hole individual score (207, -9) on the way to her first career medalist honors. The Goose Creek, S.C., native tallied a tournament-best 16 birdies and finished under par in all three rounds throughout the week.

USC has now earned a spot at the NCAA Championships later this month, in a field of 24 total schools.

SOFTBALL

*** The Gamecocks played number 16/14 Missouri over the weekend, with the Tigers taking game one by a score of 5-2. USC held an early advantage,but Missouri evened things up in the first and took the lead for good in the second inning. In game two, junior pitcher Nickie Blue tossed a two-hitter and the Gamecocks claimed a 3-1 victory. In the finale, USC had runners on base in every inning but could not scratch one across, ultimately falling by a score of 2-0.

*** USC once again matched up against Missouri in the opening game of the 2016 SEC Tournament. Junior Taylor Williams smacked a three-run homer to send the Gamecocks to an extra-innings victory. In the quarterfinals, USC could not muster another comeback, falling to number 10/9 Tennessee by a score of 5-1.

*** Beverly Smith's team will learn its postseason fate on Sunday night at 10 p.m. EDT during the NCAA Tournament selection show on ESPNU. The team, finishing with a 36-21 overall record, is seeking its fourth straight tournament appearance under smith.

SWIMMING & DIVING

*** Diver Lauren Lamendola was selected to the CoSIDA Women's At-Large Academic All-District 4 Team this week. A recent USC graduate, Lamendola finished fourth in the 1-meter at the SEC Championships and sixth in the 3-meter. She was an NCAA Championship qualifier and finished her career with an All-American finish in the 1-meter event. Lamendola also earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for the Gamecock athletic department. She was a CSCAA Scholar All-American honoree in each of her first three seasons and is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll pick.

*** Kevin Leithold and Nils Wich-Glasen swam at the 2016 Deutschen Meisterschaften (German Championships), finishing Sunday in Berlin.. Wich-Glasen earned a podium spot in the 50m breaststroke, making the A final in all three races. Leithold, who took home his third All-America honor back in March, took seventh in the 50m breaststroke in a close race.

Wich-Glasen and Leithold helped lead the Gamecock men to a 17th place finish at the NCAA Championships, the program's best finish since 1991.
