Several Gamecocks were named to the various All-SEC teams released by the league office Monday.

Outfielder Gene Cone was named to the All-SEC first team while starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt earned second-team All-SEC honors.

Cone had at one time this season a nation-leading 31 game hitting streak and finished the regular season with a .348 batting average.

Schmidt finished with a 9-2 record and an ERA of 2.72. He totaled 108 strikeouts, the first time a Gamecock pitch has passed 100 since Michael Roth in 2011.

Braden Webb, Adam Hill, LT Tolbert and Chris Cullen were all named to the Freshman All-SEC team. All four saw significant playing time this season and both Webb and Hill were weekend starters throughout SEC play.

No Gamecock was named to the All-Defensive team. Seven Gamecocks with a minimum of 25 starts had fielding percentages of .975. Jonah Bride had a fielding percentage of .990.

While South Carolina won the SEC East, they were left off the list of the four major awards for Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Those awards went respectively to Texas A&M's Boomer White, Florida's Logan Shore, Mississippi State's Jake Mangum and Tennessee's Derek Lance. Mississippi State's John Cohen won SEC Coach of the Year, an award Chad Holbrook was also in the mix for.

Next up for the Gamecocks is the SEC Tournament where they will play the winner of the Ole Miss-Georgia game. South Carolina's first pitch is scheduled for about 2 p.m. EST Wednesday.
