QUOTES

Adam Hill on the potential of being a weekend starter: “I just do what the coaches tell me. If they want me to throw whenever, then I’ll go and throw. Whenever they tell me to throw, I’ll be ready to pitch.”

Thompson-Williams on his home run: “I didn’t know it was out; with this park there’s no telling…Fortunately it rose and rose and flew out.”

DTW on the pitchers’ 17 strikeouts: “Boring? Borderline. But it’s exciting going to see Johnson pitch and seeing those fireballs.”

DTW on the mood after Clemson: “Holbrook wasn’t happy with us…I think we can get better. I think we can put up more runs, more hits.”

Holbrook on Tyler Johnson: “There’s not a kid on our staff that’s made a jump like Tyler Johnson’s made. The kid was 88 to 89 (miles per hour) last year and now you got people talking about him as a potential first-round draft pick because of his velocity. So that kid is if not the hardest worker on our team, the top three. So I’m really proud of him the way he’s preformed. “

Holbrook on offensive inconsistency: “I don’t know if we’re on track yet. I think we have a chance to be better offensively, a chance to be a lot better than what we preformed over the weekend. I think we have a chance to be a lot better than what we preformed tonight. I’m not very satisfied with us offensively right now.”

Holbrook on the team’s lone strikeout: “The strikeout to walk ratio over the weekend was very unacceptable…I can look at the walk to strike ratio and tell you if I have a competitive team giving me competitive at-bats. The walk to strikeout ratio over the weekend was not indicative of a competitive team. So it was good to take a small step forward tonight.”
