Quotes

Mooney on his performance: “I took a step back and thought about what I used to do which is have fun, play baseball, see ball hit ball. That’s what I’ve been doing. Well that and watching Gene Cone in the cage.”

Cone on playing Arkansas: “I’m very ready to go; I think everybody is to be honest with you. We’ve been swinging the bats pretty well, pitching well doing the whole nine yards. So we’re ready to rock-and-roll.”

Mooney on starting his last season of SEC play: “It’s very exciting. It’s my last one, and it could be Gene’s last one. How many hits did we have the last two games? Thirty-five? Yeah, that gives us all the confidence in the world.”

Mooney on the tough start to conference play: “We don’t care about the numbers next to the names; we’re just going to go out there, play our best. I know the second two weekends of SEC play we get to miss a couple days of school because the games are Thursday-Friday-Saturday.”

Cone on missing school for games: “I’m always worried about classes. I’m more worried about classes than I am worried about baseball.”

Holbrook on offensive output: “I think we have a pretty deep team and it’s good to get production like we got tonight from the bottom of our lineup. I’m encouraged by what we’ve been doing offensively the last couple of nights. Hopefully we can carry that into the weekend.”
