-- Holbrook said that Marcus Mooney, who was hit on the elbow by a pitch Friday night, was sore this morning, but could have started at shortstop had it been a season-on-the-line type of game. They didn't want to push him and let the injury possibly linger. Mooney entered the game as a defensive substitution at second base late and will take Sunday and Monday off. He should be good to go by Tuesday.

Quotes

Tyler Johnson on coming into the game with two runners on and nobody out... "I just knew that I had to throw some strikes in there and try to pitch to contact. Getting two outs at one time is a easy way out and that's exactly what I tried to do. We got ourselves out of a little pickle there. Made a real good pitch and he put a good swing on it, but luckily it was right at one of our fielders and we were able to get out of it."

Holbrook on the fast starts in SEC play... "When you score first, it makes your pitchers feel a little bit better and it puts some pressure on their team to get some things going. Any time you can get ahead in the game of college baseball, that's a plus. We've come to the park ready to play for the most part all year long and hopefully that will continue."

Thompson-Williams on the 6-0 start... "It feels great. Talking to the returners, SEC is huge and conference is huge. Holbrook says we've got 30 games and every one of them counts, so it's really good that we started out 6-0. We have a big advantage over some other teams."

Holbrook on what he learned about his team... "That was the thing I was most excited about is that today they came out here not satisfied with what happened Thursday and Friday. We got off to a great start today and that told me even more about my team that maybe I didn't know. It was a good weekend for us."
