Major League update: May 2-May 11

Here's how former Gamecock baseball players fared in the majors since May 2.

Major Leagues

Jackie Bradley Jr. (Red Sox) continues his hot streak, going 15-36 with seven runs scored, one walk and five home runs. He had a six-RBI game this week and has 15 total RBIs this month.

Steve Pearce (Rays) had a good nine days for the Blue Jays, going 9-for-23 with five runs scored, a double and four home runs. He also drove in six runs as well. His on base plus slugging percentage is sitting at 1.353.

Justin Smoak (Blue Jays) also had a big week batting .444 (12-for-27) with five runs scored, a double and a pair of home runs. He's driven in five runs and has a slugging percentage of .704 this month.

Sam Dyson (Rangers) pitched six innings in six different appearances, giving up one earned run on six hits. He walked two batters compared to the three he struck out. His ERA is down to 1.29.

Triple A

Christian Walker went 6-for-40 for the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore). He scored six times. Half of his hits were home runs and he had eight RBIs during the stretch. He also had eight strikeouts.

Whit Merrifield continued to play well for the Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City), going 10-for-39 with two home runs, four RBIs and five runs scored. He also walked twice.

Michael Roth pitched 9.2 innings this week for the Round Rock Express (Rangers), giving up four earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out four while walking two. His ERA is at 1.88 and he earned his first loss of the season Tuesday.

Tyler Webb pitched five times for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRaiders (Yankees), pitching five innings and giving up one earned run on four hits. He struck out six batters and watched his ERA dip to 1.76.

Evan Marzilli was optioned to the Double-A Moblie BayBears (Arizona). He went 4-for-18 with one run scored and no RBI. He walked three times and struck out nine. His average is .190 after that week.

Double A

Bryan Harper pitched four innings for the Harrisburg Senators (Washington). He earned his first win of the season and only gave up one earned run during the week on three hits.

Jordan Montgomery started two games this week for the Trenton Thunder (Yankees), going 1-1. He gave up a combined two earned runs on seven hits. He racked up 15 strikeouts over both starts.

Joel Seddon started two games for the Midland RockHounds (A’s), giving up eight earned runs and 14 hits. He earned no decisions in both starts. His record is still 1-2 on the year.

Single A Advanced

Evan Beal was promoted to Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City) where he'll join Merrifield. He pitched in three games since May 2, going 5.1 innings while not allowing a run. He struck out six and his ERA is 1.06.

LB Dantzler went 3-for-17 this week for the Dunedin Blue Jays (Toronto). He had one RBI and a walk.

Grayson Greiner went 4-for-14 for the Lakeland Tigers (Detroit). He scored twice and drove in a run. He also walked twice.

Tanner English was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the seven-day disabled list for the Fort Myers Miracle (Twins). He has not played since April 19.

Kyle Martin went 6-for-37 for the Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia) while scoring once and having three RBIs. He also walked once.

Joey Pankake had a good week for the Lakeland Tigers (Detroit) going 7-for-31 with foru runs scored, a home run and six RBIs. His average has risen from .173 at the beginning of May to .243.

Single A Full Season

Max Schrock continues his good play for the Hagerstown Suns (Nationals). He went 10-for-34 this week, driving in two runs and scoring four of his own. He also walked once and had two stolen bases.

Jack Wynkoop of the Asheville Tourists (Rockies) started one game going seven innings and giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits. He got the win and his season record improves to 3-1. He has a 3.82 ERA.
