In-state linebacker sets decision announcement

Piedmont (S.C.) Woodmont three-star linebacker Davonne Bowen landed a South Carolina offer at camp on Saturday and the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder has quickly set an announcement.

The offer took Bowen’s total tally to 20, with the Gamecocks joining Missouri as SEC programs to have extended a scholarship.

“It means a lot. For me to have one of the schools that I’m looking for and be a home state school, that’s truly a blessing and mind-blowing,” Bowen told GamecockCentral.com Saturday of the Carolina offer.

The Upstate defender, who will transition to linebacker at the college level, notched 14 sacks as a junior playing defensive end. He ran a sub-4.5 forty yard dash at USC on Saturday to go along with a 36 inch vertical leap.
