In-state ATH lands offer

After camping at South Carolina on Saturday and not landing an offer, Aiken (S.C.) South Aiken ATH Tancey Richardson returned to campus Monday with a goal of landing a scholarship from the Gamecocks.

Richardson didn't leave Columbia with the offer Monday either, but was told to expect to hear from defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson later in the day. He received good news when he did.

"He said that I earned it today," Richardson said. "I really worked hard for it and USC has offered me a full scholarship."

South Carolina had already increased its recruitment of Richardson as of late and he's been on campus four times in the last month or so.

"It's big," Richardson said. "I wanted that offer. It's one of the schools I liked and to get that offer is big."

Richardson recently named Colorado State as a leader. Does the offer change that?

"I haven't really changed yet," Richardson said. "I will see how (the Gamecocks) recruit me over time."

He plans on taking unofficial visits to Florida State, Marshall and Mississippi State over the next few weeks.
