Holden: 'It's the best fit for me'

Kory Holden's Twitter

South Carolina landed a major commitment Tuesday afternoon in the form of Delaware transfer Kory Holden, the 6-foot-2 combo-guard announced on Twitter.

"Frank Martin was honest and was able to communicate his plan to me," Holden told Gamecock Central. "I heard all good things about him through the process and his vision for me align with my personal goals. I enjoyed the visit and the guys. I feel it's the best fit for me."

Holden will have to sit out next season but will have two seasons to play for the Gamecocks after that.

"Coach Martin has made it clear to me I will have responsibility on and off the ball," Holden said of his fit within the program. "He expects me to be a leader and have a major role. My goal is the same as when I first picked up a basketball: Play in the NBA."

This season, Holden chipped in 17.7 points per game and 4.2 assistants per game while shooting 38.8 percent from the 3-point line and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Salisbury, Md. native from James M. Bennett High was a second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection as a sophomore after after making the All-Rookie team during his first season at Delaware.
