Gamecocks in the pros: June 1 to June 7

MLB

--Jackie Bradley Jr. went 3-for-15 (.200) for the Boston Red Sox with two doubles and an RBI. He’s still batting .321 this season and playing in the outfield on a daily basis.

--Steve Pearce went 5-for-9 (.556) with the Tampa Bay Rays. He played in three games since June 1 and is also hitting .321 this year.

--Justin Smoak struggled hitting to start the month, going 3-for-18 (.167) for the Toronto Blue Jays. He scored a run and has three RBIs so far in June.

--Sam Dyson, who is now the Texas Rangers’ go-to closer, has four appearances so far in June and has pitched four innings. He’s only given up one run on three hits and has struck out five batters. He has a win (1-1) and tallied two saves as well. He has eight this season.

--Whit Merrifield went 6-for-24 (.250) with the Kansas City Royals, hitting for two doubles. He had a nine-game hitting streak snapped earlier this month but is still hitting .315 early in his major-league career.

Triple A

--Christian Walker went 4-for-23 (.174) with the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore) so far this month with an RBI and six strikeouts. He’s hitting .241 in Triple A this season.

--Michael Roth started two games for the Round Rock Express (Texas) tallying 11 innings and giving up 12 hits and five earned runs. He also struck out seven batters but lost one game and has a record this year of 2-2.

--Tyler Webb stated two games for the Scranton-Wilkes Barre RailRiders (Yankees), throwing 8.2 innings and giving up six earned runs on 11 hits. He struck out nine batters and has a season ERA of 3.27. He earned no decisions in both starts.

Double A

--Evan Marzilli went 5-for-25 (.200) with the Mobile BayBears (Arizona) with one run scored and two RBIs. He’s hitting .317 since being demoted to Double A Mobile.

--Bryan Harper was promoted from Double A Harrisburg to Triple A Syracuse (Washington). Since his promotion, he’s had three appearances of an inning apiece. He has yet to give up a hit or an earned run while striking out four batters.

--Peter Mooney is 4-for-27 (.148) through the first week of June with the Jacksonville Suns (Miami) with two runs and no RBIs. He hasn’t tallied a hit in his last three games played.

--Joel Seddon started one game for the Midland Rockhounds (Oakland) where he gave up seven hits and three earned runs in 6.2 innings. He earned the loss and moves to 1-5 on the year.

--Jordan started one game for the Trenton Thunder (Yankees) where he pitched four innings and gave up two earned runs. He earned a no decision in the start, but his ERA still hovers at 2.96.

--Evan Beal made two relief appearances for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City) where he threw four innings total and gave up a run on three hits. He received a loss in one game (2-1 on season) and a no decision in the other.

Single A

--Kyle Martin went 5-for-18 (.278) for the Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia) with a run scored and three RBIs. He raised his batting average up now to .238.

--Tanner English remains on the disabled list for the Fort Meyers Miracle (Minnesota).

--After a 3-for-4, two RBI day for the Lakeland Tigers (Detriot), Grayson Greiner was promoted to Double A Eerie. Since then, he’s hit 1-for-13 (.077).

--LB Dantzler went 0-for-6 since the start of June for the Dunedin Blue Jays (Toronto).

--Joey Pankake went 7-for-20 (.350) with the Lakeland Tigers (Detriot) with two runs scored and an RBI.

Single A Advanced

--Max Schrock continued his hot play for the Hagerstown Suns (Washington), going 10-for-26 (.385), including a good stretch of games against the Columbia Fireflies. He has five runs, a home run and seven RBIs this month. He was also named to the South Atlantic League All-Star game later this month.

--Jack Wynkoop started one game for the Asheville Tourists (Colorado), going seven innings giving up only two runs on nine hits. He also struck out seven batters but earned the no decision.
