A&M's Childress speaks after South Carolina series

Texas A&M’s head coach Rob Childress spoke to the media after Sunday’s 10-7 loss to South Carolina. Although his team took two of three, South Carolina managed 10 hits and 11 walks (along with two hit batters) to win the game.

After the game, Rob Childress was very complimentary of the Gamecock hitters.

“When you give them 13 free base runners—whether the walk or the hit batter—you’re lucky the score’s not 17-7 and not 10-7,” he said. “They came out and took advantage of the base runners in the game and they got big hits. Thompson-Williams had a wonderful day.”

Gamecock pitching, while shaky to start and end the day, found its groove with lefty Josh Reagan pitching the middle innings, and Childress noticed.

“When they went to the left-hander it seemed to settle things down for them. He’s got a great feel, an older kid, that threw all three pitches for strikes,” “Each time we had a chance for a big inning, he kept it to a single run.”
