On Deck

Arendas on frustrations: “During the game you still think we had a chance to win, and we did. We had a few chances early in the game; we had a few chances late. You can’t ever allow that frustration to dictate what’s going on in the game. It’s just a tough one to swallow.”

Arendas on being back in the starting lineup: “Everybody in our locker room wants to help us win, and we’re trying to find ways to do that each and every day whether you’re in the lineup or not in the lineup. That’s something that’s been pretty consistent all year. Guys have been moving in and out of the lineup trying to make an impact in both ways.”

Holbrook on Adam Hill’s performance: “He kept us in the game. We had a chance to win the game with his start. His command was off a little here-and-there…He gave us a chance. Our pitching staff gave us a chance to win.”

Holbrook on replacing Jones with Cullen: “I felt with Reagan out there it’d benefit us, and it did for a while. If Jones had been hitting .500 the last 15 games, I might have been hesitant to take to take him out. But he’d been scuffling.”

Holbrook on maybe manufacturing runs in extra innings: “I thought about squeezing there with Cullen. Looking back at it, maybe I should have done it. Just because you put on the squeeze doesn’t mean it’s going to work.”
